Antigua & Barbuda Amateur Volleyball League 2015 officially opened on Tuesday night

The Antigua & Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association 2015 local league was officially opened on Tuesday Night at the Volleyball Complex at the YMCA with a short opening ceremony.

However after the opening two matches were played, in the first match, defending female champions Sagicor General Paragons continued on their winning streak from last season by beating Stars in a four set affair.

Stars carried the fight to Paragons but the champions showed why they are Champions by pulling away to win 3 sets to 1, 25-18, 21-25, 25-15 and 25-13.

In the other match the feature match of the night, Enforcers who dominated the men’s local Volleyball for the past two years, were handed their first defeat in two years beating beaten by PYTONZ 3 sets to 1. However Enforcers were without some of their key players, but it matters not to PYTONZ as they won 23-25, 25-22, 27-25 and 25-15.

There is a total of twelve (12) teams taking part in the tournament this year to include seven male teams which consists of Stoneville, Enforcers, Assassin, PYTONZ, High Flyers, Sharks and Junior National Boys, while five teams in the female consists of Paragons, Stars, Squad, Warriors and Junior National Female.

The matches continue at the Volleyball Complex nightly starting at 6.30pm.
